Magazine Subscriptions

Magazine subscritions can be a pain in the butt to sift through, it seems like I'm constantly getting 1,000 different offers for the same three magazines I subscribe to, and I never know which one is the best. I did a little research online and found MagazinePriceSearch.com which was a great place for me to see how much time and money I could be saving. I also saw some great offers on possible different magazines I would like to get into, and since they are so cheap it probably wouldn't even be that much of a risk. Either way, I'll have cheap excess lying around for the ol' scrapbook. Don't go through those crappy college campus offers kids, do some actual research.

Dog Soldiers

My buddy Kevin and I just watched "Dog Soldiers," which was the directorial debut and pretty much the only other movie from the director of "The Descent." We both loved "The Descent" and felt it was one of the better horror flicks we've seen in a long time, so we figured we'd give this a try too. The plot revolves around a group of soldiers on a training mission (which of course, goes horribly wrong) and they eventually run into a family of werewolves who of course threaten their very existant. Though a bit extreme at times, "Dog Soldiers" was also another well put-together little horror flick. It felt much like a classic seventies thriller with the fear that the threat could come at any time, and yet it also had a bit of that cool 80's buddy-soldier movie feel to it. The film also used a lot of Jaws technique by not showing too much of the werewolves, which was probably due to budget restrictions, but as long as it works I'm not going to complain. Not the best horror movie ever made, but it certainly wasn't an aweful way to kill two hours either.

Phone Bills

Being an actor, I have lots of lond distance connections that I could need to get in contact with and any point given point during the day. I am currently using a major phone company (who's name I won't mention) but they don't leave me with too many options outside the whole nights and weekends pitch. I was considering switching to an independant company like Vonage to deal with my tricky phone scenario. Not only will they get me my long distance calls for a low, monthly rate, but it looks like they offer plenty of the old services for no extra charge: voicemail, call-waiting, call-forwarding, and 3-way calling among some of the more pleasant perks. Being in the kind of profession where I need to deal with lots of people all over the states, I think I could definately benefit and cut down my phone bill by switching to a service like this. Feel free to check out Vonage too if you deal with the same problems that I do.

The "T"

I'm getting ready to pick up my friend in Boston at 3 in the moring, and it made me realize how ridiculous the whole subway system can be sometimes. It's not very secure, the trains and buses seem to run at ridiculous times, and prices are through the roof. It makes me sad that we haven't made any progress in making Back to the Future technology a reality yet. Once I have my flying car, I will be just fine.

Domain Names

Unfortunatly someone dropped the ball on grandmas3rdleg.com so now we need to look into a new service to get our domain name up and running again. I'm thinking about switching toDealASite.com, I looked over their stats and it looks like they offer easy solutions for people like me who are stuck in a rut about keeping my domain. As opposed to a forum, this site let's you sell and buy your domain names in a much more user friendly environment. I highly recommend at least giving it a look through.
