Car Audio Systems
When I picked up my jeep, it had a previous owner who left this crappy old Sony system which has been my only means in terms of music in my car since I've had it. It gets the job done most of the time, but the sound quality is poor and half of my burnt cds don't seem to work. So I've been in search of a new system to keep me rockin on the road. I usaully poke my nose around Best Buy and Circuit City but they always seem to hide certain little fees from you, with parts and installation and what not you end up paying twice what you think you are going to pay. I'm pretty tech savvy, so I was considering getting my new deck online and installing the system myself. Dixons is a company that sells in car audio systems entriely online, but shaves off the price from Best Buy about fourty dollars for sound systems that are virtually the same. They offer a huge variety of brands and different kinds of in-car entertainment for your car, and as I've said before, you really can't beat their prices with their delivery and installation services. Next time you are thumbing through Circuit City looking at car audio systems, make the choice I made and check online. Its just another reason why the internet is such a wonderful, wonderful thing.

Film Noir
Some feel that the genre may be dead, but I think that there is still an audience that would love to see some new, innovative film noir. Movies like Sin City and Lucky Number Slevin have been fairly successful and prove there still is an audeicen hungry for the off-beat reality that only film noir could provide.
For those of you who might not know what constitutes film noir, let me get all film school on your for a minute here. Filmn noir was inspired by german expressionism, it is a genre that paints a rather gloomy outlook on life through darkness and shadows and fills it with substance and meaning. Classic noir always has a sort of anti-hero who is alienated from society and looking for ways to fight through the darkness with his clever wit and pursuits of success. We also usually find the classic dame, or "Femme Fatale," who is complicating things for our crooning hero because she is seductive and decietful at the same time. In most cases, half of the stories problems are a result of this foxy lady. Most noir also tries to take a stance and say something about society and political structures, again painting dark images to drive a point on home.
My buddies and I are all about the genre, hopefully one of these days we'll figure out some way to make film noir more acceptable for a modern audeince. Because we can all feel a bit alienated at times, can't we?

Printers
I've had my ol' HP Deskjet 940c for quite some time now, and I think it's time for an upgrade. We all know how anal retentive I am, so I need my print jobs clean, crisp, and filled with colors. My various jobs always have me printing out random pictures and color fylers and my old deskjet just aint cutting the chase anymore. My coworker just recently got one of the new Epson inkjet printers and I am also tempted to pick one up myself. I found that link during my usual browsing, and they have lots of different printers that can cater to a variety of needs, whether it be at home or at work or anything in between. It's good for people like me because I can get high quality prints of my pictures and postings, as well as clean, professional looking copies of my reports and important documents. And they are actually AFFORDABLE, which is always a plus in my book. I think when my sweet Halloween overtime paychecks roll in, I'll be making the investment in getting an Epson printer.
YouTube
Good ol' YouTube, it seems everyone seems to be fighting over their wonderful little site these days. Google, Yahoo, and other internet empires are trying to get their greedy little paws on some of YouTube's action. But can we blame them? After only a year their site has become a household name. It's easily accessable and a great way to waste hours away on the internet. It pretty much caters to anyones needs: small buisnesses can get their name out through video, people can expose their creativity to the world, and anyone can throw up random clips from their favorite shows of the past. The possibilities are pretty much endless. So congrats YouTube founders, I wish google wanted to throw billions of dollars at me too.
Secret Poker
I've posted before on my love for the game of poker, but it seems to be a constant struggle to keep a good game going these days. Soon enough online gambling will be shut down, and it's already illegal to play for actual money in the college dorms where poker is most likely being played. It is for these reasons that people like myself and my poker buddies need to find new poker rules to keep a good friendly game going. That link there offers new, exciting ways to keep online poker fun and entertaining. If you are sick of playing poker the same old way, theres some nifty links on there about different ways you can get your game going, on and offline. They also have all of the rules for the different types of poker, for all those who might not know and have been too ashamed to ask your friends about. It's definately a neat little page that is worth checking out.
The Problem With Theater
My Wednesday and Friday classes are filled with non-stop theater study. In Dramatic Theory and Criticism we study the ancient philosophies of old playwrights and what structures they feel we must follow to create a well-crafted play. In Modern American Drama we intrinsicly analyze maticulous details of contemporary plays, specifically geared toward American playwrights, obviously. And what is the connection?
It seems every class on Theater I've taken we learn about the SAME THINGS. Most philosphers agree with each other unless they are disagreeing for the sake of arguement, but their claims are never too far-fetched. It seems every class relating towards theater history that I have ever taken covers the same people, plays, styles, you name it. Is there not enough there to flesh out and create specific classes for things? Apparently not.
Long story short: if I have to read Moliere one more time, I think I may pop.
