Contracting Work

I've done some under-the-table work for contracters over the past few years, mostly because some of the girls I've dated have had fathers or step fathers with their own contracting business. It's a pretty profitable business to get into, especially for family men who need to work at their own paces and can multitask. But of course, it is also a business that goes beyond the simple man work, and there can be lots of paper work and management work to deal with as well. The chaps at Procore Technologies have created just a service specifically catering the needs of these busy contracters who need assistance in managing their projects and keeping track of their clients. This web-based software keeps all the project information secure and organized so that the contracters themselves can go back to what is most important: a job well done. With the Procore system half of the busy work is done for them, they just punch in a few figures and can get back to being a successful business. Then maybe they'll have more time getting around to cutting my paychecks. I already recommended this to my contracters, and you should too.

How Low Can You Go?

I just caught a pretty amusing story on CNN. Apparently in Ohio a man robbed a bank of about $80, handed the money to a security guard and waited for the police to come an arrest him. Apparently the man was trying to be imprisoned because he was having trouble holding a steady job, and was looking for a way to avoid paying social security for a few years. At first, the jury was skeptical to put him in prison because he would be essentially mooching off of the tax payers dollars, but since they feared he would go out and do something even worse to get himself into prison they ultimately had him locked away.

That's reaching a little low in scraping the social barrel here. The man was also reported to be a completly charming person with no psychological problems. It makes me worry what else people will try to pull to avoid paying their dues for a few years. Also, would it really be worth giving up your freedom for? I guess that's something we can debate for a little while.

Got Assets?

I would like to take this time to create a little buzz about some Asset Tracking Software that is brought to us by the hard workers at Siterra. With Siterra you can virtually draw solutions for high value operating assets and real estate properties. By virtually I mean their products are completly web based, so for those of us running business from the seat of our computers, this is pretty much a dream come true. They are such a likely recommend because as opposed to other companies, they are the only ones with a site-centric structure which basically means that your data will be safely tracked and efficiently communicated through your outside parties. Their management will narrow those several hazy solutions into one convinient one, all from the seat of your computer. Check it out, you buisness tycoons.

More Wii Fun

Apparently the Nintendo Wii went on reserve today. My friend Giblin was number six in line outside of EB Games this morning to make sure he would be getting it right at the date of launch. My friend Dan also went out and reserved his while he was reserving Guitar Hero 2. It made me wonder if I would also like to jump on the reservation bandwagon.

I don't think I will however. I think I'll hold on to my hard earned dollars and pick mine up when the system becomes a bit more established. I definatly plan on making the purchase some day, but I'm just not quite ready to jump to the new system at the moment. And until then, I guess I'll be playing it at my friends places. Oh well.

Power to the People

We all know I'm pretty much on the liberal side of the political spectrum, so I'm not too thrilled with the state our government is in right now. However, I just watched the video TAKE BACK THE CAPITOL and was quite refreshed to see that even Republicans are unhappy with the way things are going in our government. Up here in Massachusetts, it seems like you are either for or against the war, but this video is great because it is all about putting the power back in the hands of the people. This is cool because it is something people on any side of the political spectrum can agree on. Things are getting out of hand, and that great little video just says it all. Check it out, its a most excellent quick watch!

10 November

Opening Night for 10 November last night was a roaring success. We pretty much had a full house, and they were quite willing and receptive to the crazy, obscure theatrics we were throwing in their faces. This was pretty much the first time we have had an actual audience too, so it was somewaht intimidating at first but once everyone could laugh about it it was smooth sailing. They loved it and ate every little bit of it.

Another great thing about this show is that there are no stars. The eight other guys and myself all have just as much things to do and everyone gets their own little moments to shine, but the show works because of the strong ensamble we have formed together. Throw in some beautiful singing and its quite a treat for anyone, even if they know nothing of the sinking of the Edmund Fitzgerald. After all, it isn't about the events, it's about the people.

Come check it out, this weekend or next weekend up here in Salem. That is, if you can brave the mobs of Halloweentown.
